Anning is a grey blue base with speckles of grey and black throughout.
Anning is named after a remarkable woman whose notoriety was less than it should have been in her time and this color is to honor her contributions to the study of geology and paleontology. Mary Anning lived in the 1800's in England. She explored the cliffs along the English Channel at Lime Regis, mostly during the winter when landslides exposed the fossils so she could acquire them for study before they disappeared into the ocean. By doing so, Anning uncovered the first Ichthyosaur that was properly identified, the first two almost fill Plesiosaur skeletons and the first Pterosaur outside of Germany. She once wrote, "The world has used me so unkindly, I fear it has made me suspicious of everyone," in regards to her work, because as a woman in her time, she was not appreciated and not allowed to fully participate in the scientific community.
